sounds for the masses

I have sporadically recorded a good number of songs onto my iBook. Usually I would, with a cup of mint tea, sit down in front of the little hole that serves as a microphone, click the red recording button on Audacity (yes, its free) and carefully belt out one-take renditions of my songs with the hope that the relative distance between my mouth and the micro (phone) hole and my guitar and the hole was “right.” Anyway, I’ve decided to post some of these recordings for you. They will come one by one, so look back for more if you like this first one.

Nice song man. I’ve been waiting for some more from you. Looking forward to your other songs. Are you going to be playing electric on any?

  2. Dan, I have tried to record songs with electric–I’ve even done some stuff like recording drums with songs I’ve written on the piano. But since my recording method is so primitive, the songs that emerge really don’t make the grade (low as it is) for any sort of distribution. I’ve found that acoustic with vocal are the things that are easiest to control, so probably most, if not all, of the songs will be in that format.

Hey…good song! It sounded fine to me. I look forward to hearing more! I’ve got some music meandering around in my brain…perhaps this will inspire me to acually write some of it down! I have a friend who’s a musician and he keeps telling me i should. We’ll see about recording it, however…(:
