The rubbery deathly texture and consistency of mushrooms terrifies me. This dreadful fungus inspires horror and aversion with its look and feel; and if you think about it, it gets worse.

They look like rubberized mud formed in the germ-ridden bowels of the earth. Many of them are poisonous, and they colonize taking over huge amounts of ground with their invisible networks of death.

I just painstakingly cleared some leftover pizza of every remnant of this abominable growth (some people actually eat these things); after studiously cleaning my hands (and checking the pizza carefully one more time), perhaps I can breath easy until my world is one again invaded by the pestilential mushroom.
