Coalitions
I think perhaps it is time to start a Christian Anti-Christian-Coalition Coalition. Statements like Robertson’s serve only to further alienate and annoy non-Christians; not only that but they confuse and mislead Christians who are at a relatively young maturity in their faith. I cannot conceive the reasoning behind such asinine words. Here is an abstract for all of you too lazy to click through links:
Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson warned residents of a rural Pennsylvania town Thursday that disaster may strike there because they “voted God out of your city” by ousting school board members who favored teaching intelligent design.
“I’d like to say to the good citizens of Dover: If there is a disaster in your area, don’t turn to God. You just rejected him from your city,” Robertson said on the Christian Broadcasting Network’s “700 Club.”

Frighteningly similar in tone to Bill O’Reilly’s practically requesting terrorist attacks on San Francisco, over two bills that, frankly, i agree with San Franciscans about.

And the truth of the state is both humorous and incredibly sad.

I miss reading your blog, Tim. I’m going to try and get back over here more!
This post echoes frighteningly some thoughts and conversations i’ve been having over the last few months…year…maybe more…and are growing in intensity. It is sad.
I detest being ashamed to tell people i’m a Christian…not because i’m ashamed of te Lord…but because i know what will run through people’s minds when they hear that word!
it is sad.
anyway, i hope your life is going fantastically well. (:

jimi: Fox can be so extreme, perhaps they should change their name to FAUX News…
SQMJ: does that mean you’ll join my coalition?
Of course, laughter has power, for it gets at the truth in channels too heavily guarded for any other approach.
Colleen: I’m glad you’re back. I share your frustration, and I too have been tempted by shame. But yet, Christianity is the religion of the broken.
