Mud

S

We managed just over 3 miles, half of which was up hill. All of it was through mud, some of the mud was so thick I had flash backs to the quicksand in Princess Bride. The mud failed to daunt us and our epic persistence shined brighter than a clean buffed aluminum frame as we fought hard to make it up the hill and fought even harder not to slide off the switchbacks on the way down. Justin took a minor spill off of the log ladder at the top of the hill, but managed to land on his feet in the gully.

Overall? Success. When the conditions are better we plan to go back and give the trail an even more thorough thrashing.

Oh, It was! It’s even better when I describe my adventure as a reckless death-defying escapade (I looked Death in the eye and it blushed and turned away stammering…).

My brain did lose a bit of oxygen on the ascent (perhaps you’ve noticed my use of the word “shined” rather than “shown”).
