KU Believes
Have you ever noticed that new Christians have an earnest confidence in their faith that has the capacity to reach others for Christ in powerful way? A lot of the time, a fresh believer shares the Gospel more often and more effectively than those who have been Christians for decades. I think this same concept is what is propelling the KU Jayhawks towards a likely national championship. This ought to be considered my meager contribution to the important field of Basketball and Theology.
The Jayhawks are fresh-faced hoopsters with a supernatural-like aura around their play. Brandon Rush is a sophomore, and in yesterday’s thumping of Kentucky he shot an audacious 6 of 7 from the three point line. Some of those threes were launched from closer to the half court line than from the 3 point line; that’s confidence and skill–it’s like he’s filled with the Holy Spirit or something.
Chalmers and Wright–the whole team really–play with this assertive nonchalance that assumes greatness without getting trapped in hubris. It seems akin to the natural effortlessness with which new Christians share their faith. With something so important at hand of course inexperience shouldn’t hold one back, right? I mean this is salvation we’re talking about. Or to put it in a different bracket, we hear from Julian Wright:
Everything’s a learning experience. We’re still kind of young, but we didn’t want to use that as an excuse. We felt like, ‘Why wait?’
I mean this is a national championship we’re talking about here. And I’m a believer.
I’ve only got one thing to say about that; Hallelujah.
LOL. Sorry, this post forced out the childish acronym. I may have to link this.
LOL!! im glad to see that Ohio has not changed your loyalty to KU!
