Personal News
It’s time for some big news from the Poindexters; our five year plan has come to fruition sooner than we expected, but we’re NOT pregnant–it’s something else that is big and life-changing.
Britt and I have decided to move to Denver, Colorado in mid August, specifically the week of August 13th. We’ve been thinking about this for a while, but finally decided to consider it very seriously and after some deliberation and prayer made the decision to go. We’re going in August because we’d like to establish residency so Tim can apply and, Lord willing, enroll in graduate school at the University of Colorado at Boulder in August of 2008. Long term Colorado was where we wanted to end up. Upon consideration we realized that it is easiest to go now while we have fewer things holding us back: we don’t have any kids or house, we’re early in our careers and have money in savings, etc.
Please pray for us as we seek new jobs in Colorado, try to find a place to live and develop community, and climb mountains. We’ll be heading out on a preliminary exploratory trip the week of July 16th and hope to find an apartment quickly.
This decision is certainly bittersweet to us, as we feel remarkably blessed in the community and friendships we have here in Ohio. We’ll be leaving a lot behind: good jobs, a Lifegroup that feels like family, and a church that has given us ample opportunity to grow and serve.

For those of you near Columbus:
We will be hosting a Going-Away Party for ourselves on Tuesday, August 7th; we’d very much enjoy it if you came out. Details below:
Date/Time: Tuesday, August 7, 2007 from 7-10pm (drop in at any time).
Location: Blendon Woods Metro Park, the Shadblow Shelter.
What to Bring: Yourself and your family, and any food you’d like to eat. I think the time will be pot-luck style. There are swing sets for the kids, a horse shoe pit, a large field for Frisbee, corn hole or football and lots of grills for burgers, along with a fireplace (s’mores?). (FYI: the park doesn’t allow alcohol).
Additionally: We probably need to firm up planning for the going-away bash, so expect additional clarification soon. However, rain or shine (there’s a shelter) the date/time and location won’t change so write it on your calendar in ink.
Directions: Click here. For inter-park directions: Click here.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions about this decision or to arrange a time to hang out.
God Bless,
Tim & Britt
Congrats on the relocation, no matter how difficult it will be. Sometimes, I wish the EMBLOS and I had made a similar decision years back, but at the time it seemed easier not to. I’m sure you will be blessed.
Cheers.
Wow. What an adventure! Why Colorado? Do you have any friends or family there? But seriously, how can you leave all that is Ohio?
Congrats on your big decision & my prayers and hopes are with you two!
Thank you both for the comments.
R Sherman, I told Britt that if we didn’t go now we may never get to go and I might always look back with regret–for me coming to that realization sealed the deal.
SQ, Even though I don’t write about it much I actually love the outdoors and am basically addicted to hiking, backpacking, skiing and climbing sorts of things. Growing up my family went to CO every year on vacation and I always dreamed about living there. And, I do have some extended family there too. Also, on an existential note, I’ve felt like we’ve been living life in a “holding pattern” for some time now, and I wanted very much to take some sort of big action; the move is it, and hopefully it will lead to more significant actions.
you write: “I wanted very much to take some sort of big action”–how I so often echo these thoughts! I wonder if that is the Christian impulse or just the Ohioan identity? Glad you didn’t follow that through with a pregnancy–lol! (Not that children aren’t fun, just there ther is plenty of time for adventure first!).
That will be fun!
